Nomenclatural History
The species Acetithermus autotrophicum was originally described by Takami et al. 2012. Takami et al. corrected this name from (sic) to Candidatus .

This name is illegitimate due to the generic name being a later homonym of Acetothermus Dietrich et al. 1988. It was attempted to be corrected in Takami et al. 2012 prior to publication, but the illegitimate name appeared in several places.
