Nomenclatural History
The family Planctomycetaceae was originally proposed by Schlesner and Stackebrandt 1986. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 23 in 1987. Ward published an emended description of this family in 2010. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Scheuner et al. in 2014 and Dedysh et al. in 2020.
