Nomenclatural History
The species Empedobacter brevis was originally described and validly published by Vandamme et al. 1994. Zhang et al. published an emended description of this species in 2014. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hahnke et al. in 2016. Vandamme et al. formed this name in 1994 by placing the species (ex Lustig 1980) Holmes and Owen 1982 into the genus (ex Prévot 1961) Vandamme et al. 1994 emend. Li et al. 2021.
