Nomenclatural History
The genus Pedobacter was originally proposed and validly published by Steyn et al. 1998. Vanparys et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2005. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Hwang et al. in 2006, Gallego et al. in 2006, Zhou et al. in 2012, Farfán et al. in 2014, Kook et al. in 2014, Du et al. in 2015 and Wei et al. in 2018. Kim et al. transferred the members of Asker et al. 2008 into this genus in 2013.
