Nomenclatural History
The genus Kitasatoa was originally proposed by Matsumae et al. 1968. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Couch and Bland published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Goodfellow et al. transferred the members of this genus into Waksman and Henrici 1943 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Idris et al. 2017 in 1986.
