The genus Chimaereicella was originally proposed by Tiago et al. 2006. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 109 in 2006. Nedashkovskaya et al. transferred the members of this genus into Bowman et al. 2003 emend. Han et al. 2017 in 2007.
