Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Bifidobacterium longum suis was originally described and validly published by Mattarelli et al. 2008. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 2018. In 2008, Mattarelli et al. reduced Matteuzzi et al. 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies.
