The subspecies Roseivirga seohaensis seohaensis was originally described and validly published by Selvaratnam et al. 2016. In 2016, Selvaratnam et al. reduced (Yoon et al. 2005) Lau et al. 2006 emend. García-López et al. 2019 to the rank of subspecies.
