Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Bifidobacterium animalis animalis was originally described and validly published by Masco et al. 2004. Nouioui et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name Bifidobacterium animalis (Mitsuoka 1969) Scardovi and Trovatelli 1974 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Masco et al. 2004 in 2018.
