Nomenclatural History
The species Bifidobacterium indicum was originally described by Scardovi and Trovatelli 1969. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Nouioui et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (ex Scardovi and Trovatelli 1969) Biavati et al. 1982 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2018.
