The species Planctomyces limnophilus was originally described by Hirsch and Müller 1986. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 20 in 1986. In 2014, Scheuner et al. established as the basonym of corrig. (Hirsch and Müller 1986) Scheuner et al. 2015 .
