Nomenclatural History
The species Planctomyces maris was originally described by Bauld and Staley 1976. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1980 the name was revived and validly published by Bauld and Staley. In 2014, Scheuner et al. established as the basonym of (Bauld and Staley 1980) Scheuner et al. 2015 .
