Nomenclatural History
The species Flexibacter psychrophilus was originally described by Borg 1960. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived and validly published by Bernardet and Grimont. In 1996, Bernardet et al. established as the basonym of (Bernardet and Grimont 1989) Bernardet et al. 1996 . Garrity et al. established as an earlier homotypic synonym of (ex Borg 1960) Reichenbach 1989 pro synon. Flexibacter psychrophilus (ex Borg 1960) Bernardet and Grimont 1989 in 2007.
