Nomenclatural History

The genus Microsphaera was originally proposed and validly published by Yoshimi et al. 1996. Tao et al. replaced this illegitimate name with
Nakamurella Tao et al. 2004 emend. Kim et al. 2012
in 2004.
This name is illegitimate because it is a junior homonym to the fungal genus name Microsphaera.
