The species Pirellula marina was originally described and validly published by Schlesner and Hirsch 1987. This name replaces the name Schlesner 1987 . In 2004, Schlesner et al. established as the basonym of (Schlesner and Hirsch 1987) Schlesner et al. 2004 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016 .
