Nomenclatural History

The species Pedobacter piscium was originally described and validly published by Steyn et al. 1998. Farfán et al. published an emended description of this species in 2014. Steyn et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species
Sphingobacterium piscium Takeuchi and Yokota 1993
into the genus Pedobacter Steyn et al. 1998 emend. Wei et al. 2018. Farfán et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Pedobacter antarcticus (Shivaji et al. 1992) Farfán et al. 2014
in 2014.
